Meet Fiona! She was found by a shelter in Quebec after being dumped in the woods. After her time almost ran out at the shelter she was saved by a wonderful Rabbit Rescue foster home. Since arriving into foster care, she is a big fan of naps, loves to stretch out her hind legs, and enjoys lots of hay and her pellets.
Fiona loves to rest her head on her dewlap, this is the largest dewlap many volunteers (and even her vet!) have seen, and it acts as the perfect pillow. Fiona is a large girl at about 5 kg!
At Fiona’s spay surgery, it was discovered that she had Hydrometra, meaning her uterus had filled with clear fluid. It weighed about 1 pound when it was removed. Hydrometra is painful, and prior to her spay Fiona was picky about where she would allow her foster family to pet her. Her spay was curative and she has not had any issues since.
Fiona has been in foster care for about 6 months now and her spay was about 4 months ago. Since then, she has become so much braver and happier! Her foster parents can pet her in areas she previously didn’t allow, including her sides. She loves to explore and lounge about the house, doing the occasional binky and bunny parkour.
She really wants to be with people and will jump on the couch to try and be with you, even if she doesn’t like the feelings of the cushions. She’s also done really well with meeting new people and is quite curious about them. Her favourite greens are parsley and cilantro, although she loves just about any food (including bananas now!) and is always eager for a loop or bit of dried apple. You can usually find her flopped on her side somewhere in the home office or living room. She isn’t the biggest fan of people being in her pen or trying to refill the food dishes but she is improving every day. She would likely make an excellent free roaming bunny. Fiona does really well on her own, but could also be a bonding partner to a very submissive, laid back male bun.
Fiona has come such a long way since coming to Rabbit Rescue, and now it is time for her next great adventure – finding her forever home. Apply to adopt her today!
