Arya was originally found as a stray but came to Rabbit Rescue after being put on a euthanasia list at a shelter in Quebec due to overcrowding. She is now settled into her foster home where she enjoys lots of free roam time, exploring, zooming, binking, and sinking her teeth into a variety of chew toys provided by her foster family.
Arya is a sweet, but slightly shy gal. Once she warms up to you, she will accept pets and even head kisses, but no fast movements as she does startle easily! Arya will even reciprocate and give you some hand kisses once she is super comfortable. She even gives her foster mom head kisses back sometimes if she is laying on the floor with her! This is most likely in the evenings which is her favourite time to have her human company close by hanging out with her. If you sit or lay on the floor with her, she will come up to you and give you sniffs and boops while exploring. She is not much of a snuggler and doesn’t like to be picked up when it’s grooming time, but that doesn’t stop her from showing affection to her human pals. Arya would definitely benefit from a companion bunny as well.
She is an active girl in the mornings and evenings and spends most of her daytime outside of her pen. She loves to free roam and isn’t scared of hard flooring or stairs. Between 12-6pm, she mostly naps under the couch but in her active time, you will see her sniffing around, playing with her stacking cups or even flipping over her foraging mat to spill the goodies within. She is one smart bun! Oh and – lots of zoomies and binkies are on the itinerary too!
Arya loves her fresh salads, especially cilantro, parsley and other herbs. She loves a piece of baby carrot too, and likes to exhibit her strength when she pulls it right out of your hand. She loves her pellets but can be easily swayed to eat more hay by switching up its location. She likes to find little piles and cup-fulls around the house. Giving her the sense of accomplishment in “finding” her food has seemed to encourage her to eat more of her hay to ensure she is as healthy as possible.
Her litter habits are fantastic, making the 12 hours of daily free roam time easy to manage. She is a great candidate for a free roam bunny if that is what you’re hoping for! Make sure to cover your cords, as she is quite curious. In her earlier days in foster care, she did take a liking to the baseboards, but it has since been better managed by ensuring Arya always has lots of satisfying chew toys around including timothy hay cubes and apple sticks.
Aside from all that cuteness, Arya is so fun to just watch. She is always hopping or flopping and is quite an adorable little friend to have around the home. If she sounds like the bun for you – apply to adopt her today!
