Carmy

Meet Carmy, a sweetheart of a little lionhead bunny looking for his forever home!

Carmy was rescued by his current foster parents after being kept in a small closet by himself in a barn on a chicken farm for several months. From what we know Carmy was used for breeding for the majority of his life (rough estimate is he is around 7+ years of age) until winding up in the barn he was rescued from.

Despite the very sad and lonely conditions Carmy lived in for all of his life up until his rescue in April 2024, he is an incredibly sweet, curious and gentle little guy who has slowly been learning to enjoy living in a proper home and being spoiled! He is understandably still quite timid having spent most of his life without proper care or socialization. He can be easily spooked and wary of receiving pets or attention, but if you are patient and give him some gentle encouragement, he seems genuinely curious and wanting to engage with you. A little bribery with some of his favourite treats (banana or pellets) definitely helps though!

While he is still learning to be more playful, he has developed a serious passion for enrichment activities where he has to search & solve puzzles to find treats. Carmy’s favourite way to spend every morning is foraging through a simple cardboard box filled with some balled up newspaper for a bit of hay or pellets sprinkled in!

Even though we estimate Carmy to be around 7 years old, his personality makes him seem quite a bit younger. He is very mobile and bright bun without any apparent health issues. His fur grows fairly quickly and was quite matted when he was rescued but a bit of light combing and trimming is about as high-maintenance as Carmy gets. He’s also 95% litter-trained and likes to keep his space fairly tidy despite having lived in a barn! He seems pretty particular about the placement of his toys and his foraging box – if his foster parents ever move them while hanging out with him he resolutely moves it right back!

While his quality of life has definitely improved since his rescue, Carmy’s foster parents think he could be a fantastic candidate to be paired with another bunny and could benefit from having another buddy to keep him company and help build his confidence and playfulness. He’s quite a docile and submissive little guy who we think could easily bond with another bun as long as they aren’t too pushy or aggressive!

This wonderful little floof truly deserves to spend the rest of his life in a home where he will never be lonely or neglected again. Please consider applying to make him part of your forever family!
