About Rabbit Rescue
Rabbit Rescue Inc. is a no kill rescue that has been helping save rabbits since 2001. We spay/neuter and vaccinate each rabbit that comes into our care and provide all medical treatment they may need. The rabbits we assist come from shelters, other rescues, owner surrenders, or were dumped outside. We strive to give rabbits in urgent need a second chance at a new life.
We do not have a physical shelter. All of our rabbits are in foster homes in the GTA and surrounding areas where they are loved and cared for until they find their forever home.
Rabbit Rescue provides programs and services that educate the public regarding animal welfare, and provides protection and adoption services to animals at risk of cruelty.
All of the domestic rabbits featured on the website are rabbits that have been saved by Rabbit Rescue!
The bunny who started it all
Marbles, (right), was Haviva’s inspiration for founding Rabbit Rescue in 2001. Marbles was her first bunny, and it was easy to fall in love with him. From his curious nature and sweet personality, to cuddling on her pillow at night, he was the best of friends. Spending time with Marbles deepened Haviva’s love of rabbits and inspired her to help more that needed homes. At the time, there were no rescues for rabbits in Canada and shelters had poor adoption rates. Most shelters were not listing their rabbits on their website, and lack of education and awareness meant people would turn to pet stores and breeders. Wanting to make a positive impact in the lives of rabbits, the rescue was created to provide much needed education for domestic rabbit welfare. Marbles inspired a legacy of rescue to help bunnies in Canada.

Our Mission
Rabbit Rescue strives to save as many lives as possible. While our focus is on rabbits, we also assist hamsters and gerbils. We do not have a shelter and rely on the kindness of our foster homes to provide one on one attention, care, and socialization to the rabbits that may need it most.
Rabbits are one of the most misunderstood animal companions and the third most abandoned animal after cats and dogs. Many people are uninformed on what a domestic rabbit needs to stay happy and healthy, and incorrectly assume they make good starter pets. Much of that misconception comes from their cute and fuzzy appearance. Sadly, this results in rabbits being given as gifts to children, particulary at Easter time. The impulse purchase of rabbits without proper research often leads to rabbits being surrendered or dumped outside.
Rabbits are extremely intelligent and have unique personalities. Like cats or dogs, rabbits require proper diet, care and housing. As prey animals, they do not like being picked up and prefer being petted with all four paws on the ground. They require housing that allows them enough room to hop around with ample free roaming time. They should never be confined to a cage. Improper care and treatment of these animals often leads to them being abandoned, injured, or requiring medical attention.
Our mission is to provide education, resources, and tools to help both rabbit owners and individuals looking to bring home a rabbit for the first time. Visit the Information Hub for answers to your rabbit care questions.
